Table of Contents

D fenders for boats are commonly used for vessel side protection, dock contact areas, workboats, small craft, pontoons and marine structures. Their D-shaped rubber profile provides a practical contact surface and helps reduce impact during berthing, docking or close-contact operation.

This article shares a regular D fender order from one of our Australian customers. The required size was D200 × 200 × 650 mm. This type of rubber D fender is suitable for boat protection and other light to medium marine applications.

Project Background

This D fender order came from a regular customer in Australia. The customer required D200 × 200 × 650 mm rubber fenders for boat use. The fenders were produced according to the required size and supplied for marine protection applications.

D Fender Size and Mold Design

For this D fender, the width and height are both 200 mm. Usually, the width and height of a D fender are the same or close to the same, depending on the mold design. Because this product is made by mold, the width and height cannot be changed freely. However, the length can be cut and produced according to the customer’s requirement.

Rubber Material and Color Options

The D-shaped fender is made from rubber, and natural rubber can be used for suitable marine fender applications. If there is no special color requirement, black is the standard and most common color. White or other colors can also be produced when the project requires a different appearance.

Hole Drilling for Installation

D rubber fenders are usually drilled for installation. YT Marine can punch holes for customers before delivery, and this service can be arranged according to the drawing or required hole position. However, many customers prefer not to pre-drill the holes because they want to drill on site according to the real installation position and structure.

Where D Fenders Are Used

D fenders can be used for boats, workboats, docks, pontoons, small vessels and marine structures. They are suitable for areas where a simple, durable and easy-to-install rubber fender is required. The correct size should be selected according to the vessel size, contact area, installation surface and expected impact condition.

For dock edges, pontoons, small berths and light-duty vessel contact areas, D fenders can also be reviewed together with our marine dock and mooring fender systems.

Information Needed for D Fender Inquiries

For D fender inquiries, buyers can send the required width, height, length, quantity, color, hole drilling requirement, drawing, installation photos or existing fender details. If the installation structure is not clear, site photos can help our team check whether pre-drilling is suitable or whether on-site drilling is more practical.
