Fender panels are important parts of marine fender systems. They are usually installed in front of rubber fenders to increase the contact area, reduce hull pressure and improve protection during berthing. A complete fender panel system may include a steel frame, UHMWPE face pad, connection bolts, chains, shackles and other installation accessories.

Fender panels are usually designed as part of complete marine fender systems where rubber fenders, steel panels, UHMWPE face pads and chains work together for berth protection.

YT Marine manufactures fender panels for cell fender, cone fender, arch fender and square fender systems. The panel size, steel structure, UHMWPE pad thickness, bolt hole position, chain arrangement and installation details can be customized according to drawings or project requirements.

What Is a Fender Panel?

A fender panel is a steel frame structure fitted with UHMWPE face pads on the vessel contact side. The steel frame provides structural strength, while the UHMWPE pad offers a low-friction and wear-resistant contact surface. When used together with rubber fenders, the panel helps distribute berthing force over a larger area and reduces direct pressure on the vessel hull.

Cell Fender Panel

Cell fender panels are commonly used with cell rubber fenders for docks, ports, jetties and heavy-duty berthing structures. The panel is connected to the cell fender and supported by chains or other accessories according to the installation design. Cell fender panels can be designed in different sizes and shapes to match vessel type, berth condition and required contact area.

Cone Fender Panel

Cone fender panels are used together with cone rubber fenders. Cone fenders often provide high energy absorption and stable performance, while the front panel helps enlarge the contact surface and protect the vessel hull. The steel frame, UHMWPE pad layout, bolt hole position and chain arrangement should be confirmed according to the project drawing.

Arch Fender Panel

Arch fender panels can be used when an arch fender system requires a wider contact area or better sliding protection. A UHMWPE face pad can be installed on the front of the panel or directly combined with the arch fender structure, depending on the design. This option is suitable for dock, jetty and berth applications where abrasion resistance and lower friction are important.

Square Fender Panel

Square fender panels or square fenders with UHMWPE pads are used in applications where a simple rubber body needs additional wear protection on the contact surface. The hole shape can be customized according to the installation method, including round holes, D-shaped holes or square holes. This design is practical for docks, vessels, workboats, shipyards and marine structures.

UHMWPE Face Pad

UHMWPE face pads are widely used on fender panels because they provide excellent wear resistance and low-friction performance. The pad thickness, color, size, fixing holes and layout can be customized. For many marine projects, the UHMWPE pad helps protect both the fender panel and the vessel hull during repeated contact.

Steel Frame and Installation Accessories

The fender panel steel frame can be designed according to panel size, load condition and installation structure. Common accessories may include bolts, nuts, washers, shackles, chains, tension chains and support chains. The final arrangement should follow the berth design, fender type and installation drawing.

For dock and berth projects, fender panels can also be reviewed together with marine dock and mooring fender systems to confirm the suitable rubber fender, panel size and accessory arrangement.

Information Needed for Fender Panel Inquiries

For fender panel inquiries, buyers can send drawings, panel dimensions, fender type, UHMWPE pad thickness, steel frame requirements, bolt hole positions, chain arrangement, surface treatment, application photos and project specifications. These details help confirm the correct structure and avoid installation problems.
