For this Indonesia shipyard project, we customized a set of foam-type boat fenders based on the customer’s installation requirements. The order included one CY400 round boat bow fender and a batch of D150 foam D fenders. Both products were made with an EVA foam core and SPUA outer coating to provide a lightweight, resilient, and seawater-resistant fendering solution.
The boat bow fender was designed for the front protection area of the vessel. A pipe was placed through the center of the bow fender, allowing the customer to insert steel wire or other fixing accessories during installation. The upper surface was also designed with strap grooves, so the fender could be tied and secured more easily on the boat structure.
This project is related to our custom EVA boat and yacht fenders service. For smaller vessels, workboats, patrol boats, and special boat protection areas, EVA foam fenders with SPUA coating can be customized according to the hull shape, fixing method, and required protection area.
Custom CY400 Foam Boat Bow Fender Design
The main bow fender was a CY400 round foam boat head fender. It was produced according to the approved drawing and designed as a curved bow protection part. The customer could pass steel wire through the center pipe for fixing, while the strap grooves on the top helped position the fixing straps during installation.
To improve the structural strength of the bow fender, several layers of reinforced fabric were added inside the fender body before coating. This helped strengthen the curved section and improve durability during use. The final outer layer was finished with SPUA coating, followed by a matte spot-sprayed surface treatment.
EVA Foam Core with SPUA Protective Coating
The fenders used EVA foam as the inner core material. EVA foam helps reduce overall weight while keeping good resilience and impact absorption. Compared with solid rubber structures, foam-type fenders are easier to handle and install for customized boat and yacht applications.
The outer surface was coated with SPUA, which provides an additional protective layer against seawater, abrasion, and outdoor service conditions. For the bow fender, the SPUA coating also covered the strap areas. Although the original straps were yellow, they were sprayed black with SPUA to improve their resistance in a marine environment and make the finished product visually consistent.
D150 Foam D Fenders with Through Holes
In addition to the boat bow fender, this project also included D150 foam D fenders, each with a length of 1000 mm. The D fenders were designed with center and side through holes, making them more convenient for the customer to install after delivery.
These D-shaped foam fenders used the same EVA and SPUA structure. The foam core helped reduce product weight, while the SPUA outer coating improved surface protection. The through-hole design allowed the customer to use suitable bolts, wires, or fixing accessories according to the actual boat structure.
Production Before SPUA Coating
Before coating, the foam fenders were formed and checked according to the confirmed drawings. The D fenders were prepared with the required hole positions, while the bow fender was shaped to match the curved boat head structure. This stage helped confirm the basic dimensions, hole layout, and installation details before surface treatment.
SPUA Spraying and Matte Surface Finish
After the foam body was prepared, SPUA was sprayed onto the fender surface. The coating process covered the main fender body, strap grooves, and exposed areas that would contact seawater during use. After coating, the surface was treated with a matte spot-sprayed finish to reduce gloss and improve the final appearance.
The finished black surface was suitable for marine use and matched the customer’s expected visual style. This type of surface finish is commonly used for customized yacht fenders, workboat fenders, and special boat protection parts where appearance and durability are both important.
Strap Preparation and Reinforced Fixing Details
The bow fender was supplied with prepared fixing straps. The strap areas were placed into the designed grooves, helping prevent movement during installation. After the yellow straps were installed, black SPUA was sprayed over the strap surface to improve protection in seawater and make the straps better integrated with the fender body.
The combination of center pipe, strap grooves, reinforced fabric layers, and SPUA-coated straps made the bow fender more suitable for shipyard installation and long-term marine service.
Finished Fenders with Protective Wrapping and Pallet Packing
After production and inspection, the finished fenders were wrapped with protective film before packing. This helped protect the SPUA-coated surface during handling, storage, and transportation. The final shipment included the customized bow fender and D-shaped foam fenders, ready for installation by the customer at the shipyard.
Before delivery, the finished EVA SPUA fenders were wrapped with protective film and arranged on wooden pallets. This packing method helped protect the coated surface during handling, storage, and transportation, especially for the D150 foam D fenders with finished SPUA surface and through-hole installation details.
The pallet packing also made it easier for the customer to unload, count, and arrange the fenders after arrival at the shipyard. For customized foam fender projects, we can adjust the packing method according to product size, shipment quantity, and handling requirements.
