YT Marine manufactured two custom CY500 foam bow fenders for an Indonesia shipyard. Designed to follow the vessel bow profile, each curved fender was produced according to the approved drawing and prepared with a reinforced protective cover for the main contact area.
The project required more than a standard foam bow fender. Because actual operating conditions can create different compression forces across the bow, the customer requested an additional protective structure to help protect the fender in the higher-contact area.
Project Process: Foam forming; fabric reinforcement; SPUA coating; protective cover fabrication; integrated D-ring mounting; final measurement and wrapping
Material: 110 kg/m³ foam core; three-layer reinforced fabric; 7 mm SPUA coating; 20 mm reinforced SPUA protective cover
Custom CY500 Foam Bow Fender Design
Each fender has a Ø500 mm foam body shaped for the vessel bow. The fender core used 110 kg/m³ foam, followed by three layers of reinforced fabric and a 7 mm SPUA outer coating.
The curved profile was made to match the required bow line, helping the fender sit more naturally against the vessel structure during installation. YT Marine manufactures custom EVA boat and yacht fenders according to vessel drawings, bow shapes, installation methods and working conditions.

Reinforced SPUA Protective Cover for Uneven Compression Areas
For this project, the customer added a separate reinforced protective cover to the bow contact zone. The cover is 20 mm thick and 3.5 m long.
YT Marine produced the cover with SPUA and reinforced curtain fabric, creating a robust protective layer for the area subject to changing contact and compression conditions. The cover follows the curved fender shape rather than using a flat or standard panel.
This customized construction adds protection where the vessel bow fender may experience concentrated pressure during service, while keeping the foam fender body lightweight and suitable for vessel installation.

Integrated D-Ring Mounting Points
To simplify installation, D-ring mounting points were integrated into the reinforced protective cover. The fixing points are positioned along the cover so the customer can connect the fender to the vessel structure using suitable installation hardware.
Embedding the mounting points in the protective cover keeps the installation layout organized and avoids adding separate loose fittings after delivery. The D-ring locations, cover shape and curved fender profile were all produced according to the confirmed project drawing.

Final Inspection and Dimension Check

Before wrapping, the finished CY500 bow fenders were checked for overall profile, Ø500 mm body diameter, protective-cover dimensions and mounting-point arrangement. The two finished fenders were then wrapped with protective film to protect the SPUA surface during handling, storage and shipment.
This project is a further example of how a standard foam bow fender can be adapted for a specific vessel and operating condition. In addition to the curved CY500 foam body, the project combined reinforced fabric, SPUA coating, a 20 mm protective cover and integrated mounting points in one customized fender solution.
