250 kN Mooring Bollards for the Port of Bujumbura, Burundi

YT Marine delivered 48 complete 250 kN bollard systems for Bujumbura Port. We coordinated the engineering solution with the client’s site conditions, verified compliance with NF A 32.051 and NF A 35.501, prepared the technical submittal for consultant approval, and completed production, packing and shipment.

Product: 250 kN Round-Base Single-Bitt Mooring Bollards
Model / Size: 48 sets; 6 × M30 embedded anchor bolts/set
Market: Burundi
Application: Port Mooring

For the Bujumbura Port project, the client needed a supplier who could work with site drawings, respond to consultant comments and document material compliance, not simply manufacture bollards.

This project is part of our Marine Deck & Mooring Equipment range. YT Marine supported the complete bollard package from engineering coordination and technical submittal through consultant approval, production and delivery of 48 sets.

A Bollard Solution Coordinated with the Civil Works

The client shared quay drawings during the initial technical discussions. With the capping beam still to be cast, the installation arrangement needed to be settled alongside the civil works.

YT Marine worked with the client to establish an embedded anchorage solution and incorporated it into the bollard drawings. Each bollard used six M30 anchor bolts with a positioning plate to control their spacing and alignment.

This gave the client a defined equipment-and-anchorage package to coordinate with the site team, covering both the bollard above the quay and the fixing components within the concrete.

Supporting Compliance and Consultant Approval

The consultant reviewed the complete bollard system. Our role included preparing the technical package and addressing review comments so the client could progress the procurement.

Material conformity was a key issue. The project referenced NF A 32.051 for the bollard body and NF A 35.501 for the anchor assembly. During review, the consultant requested further evidence that the proposed anchor material met the project’s specified tensile-strength range of 510–610 MPa.

YT Marine responded with a revised submittal containing:

  • Bollard and anchorage drawings
  • Q355B material equivalence documentation
  • Mill test certificates with English translations
  • Corrosion protection clarification
  • Supporting manufacturing, inspection and installation requirements

The material comparison presented certified tensile-strength results of 539 and 557 MPa against the project’s referenced requirements. This supplied specific performance evidence for the consultant’s assessment, rather than relying on the material grade alone.

The full package brought the drawings, material evidence and installation requirements together for review, supporting approval of the complete bollard solution.

Manufacturing the Approved Bollard Package

Following consultant approval and order confirmation, YT Marine arranged production of the 48 bollard bodies using lost foam casting. The finalized drawings carried the agreed bollard geometry, fixing layout and component specifications into manufacturing.

The scope extended beyond the cast bodies. Each bollard was supplied with six M30 × 1000 mm embedded anchor bolts, matching nuts and washers, and a positioning plate. Coordinating these components as one package kept the supply aligned with the installation arrangement developed during the technical review.

Packing and Delivery

The completed order included 48 bollards, 288 anchor bolts with matching nuts and washers, and 48 positioning plates.

The client’s appointed freight forwarder collected the goods and carried out container loading at the factory. YT Marine coordinated the handover and supported the customs declaration process.

From site drawing coordination and consultant submissions to manufacturing and freight-forwarder handover, YT Marine supported both the technical requirements and the practical execution of the bollard supply.
